SKATING AND SLAP SHOT FAQS

Do you really have a skating rink?

Yes, we really do have a skating rink on the roof.  Our skating rink is smaller than some of the other ice surfaces you will find at other destinations in London.  Ours is  an exciting add-on experience for you to enjoy when you come to Skylight.  You'll be able to have a quick skate with wonderful views and then join the rest of the fun on any of the 3 levels.  You'll get a great photo of you skating with the city skyline in the background - a truly unique London experience.

How much does skating cost?

We charge £10 for 45 minutes skating.  Your skate hire is included in that price.  You are welcome to bring your own skates, but the £10 ticket charge will still apply.

Access to the ice surface is strictly controlled and limited to 50 people at any one time.  Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis.  You should only ever need to wait about 25 minutes before being able to get on the ice.  You will be required to sign a liability waiver.

We also reserve the right to restrict or remove anyone from the ice surface who may have enjoyed one too many tasty drinks.

Can I buy my skating ticket in advance?

Tickets are only available at the venue on the the day.  Our ice rink is meant as a fun activity to do while you spend time at Skylight.

Are there waiting times for ice skating?

We do not sell pre-booked skating tickets and at busy times you may experience a wait to get on the ice.  Have no fear though, we have music, food and drink right in the waiting area.  Generally the ice skating rink is busiest:

Thursdays after 7:00PM

Fridays after 7:00PM 

Saturdays after 6:00PM 

Sundays:  Generally no waiting times

If you would like to avoid a wait we recommend coming before these times.

Can you hire the full ice surface for a group?

Corporate or large group bookings can hire the ice surface for their exclusive use for limited periods of time.  If you are interested in group bookings please email tdvlsales@tobaccodocklondon.com

Is there a charge to try the ice-hockey slap shot?

We charge £3 for 10 shots at our ice hockey slap-shot challenge - but, you will always have a chance to win fun prizes from the bar when you play.  The slap shot activity is always first come, first served when available.

General FAQs

Is entry to Skylight free?
Yes, entry to Skylight is free.  There are tickets prices for our on-site activities (skating in winter, croquet and pétanque in the summer) please see below.

Is Skylight appropriate for children?
Skylight is pop-up bar and food destination. We are happy for kids to join in the fun when Skylight is open during the afternoons (12:00 - 18:00)*.  

At 18:00 we will ask all under-18s to move on to their evening destinations.

*All under-18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Is Skylight wheelchair accessible?
Yes, Skylight is accessible. Please note that we do not have working lifts. All guests in wheelchairs will be escorted up the car park ramps to the venue.  Please enquire with our door security upon arrival

Do you have heating?

Yes, Level 9 will be transformed into a toasty neon-lit haven with full indoor heating during the winter months.  Our Lever 12 marquee will also be heated and we will have outdoor patio heating throughout the outdoor spaces from November until January (but away from the ice!)

What if it rains?

We have two different covered areas outside on Level 11 to protect you from light rain and wind, if it really starts to rain, we can all run down to the covered level 9 where we have street food, DJs and a full service cocktail bar.

Can I smoke at Skylight?
While you are able to smoke at Skylight, we kindly ask you to use the ashtrays provided.

Can I bring my dog?
Pets are welcome until 18:00 on Saturday and Sunday and solely at management’s discretion. Guidance dogs are always welcome.

Do you accept bookings?
We accept bookings for groups larger than 10 people. To do this please contact us at info@skylightlondon.com, for groups larger than 50 people please contact Tobacco Dock at tdvlsales@tobaccodocklondon.com
We will only hold your table for 15 minutes, after that we may release it.

How much does your fondue cost?

Our cheese fondue sells for £14.95 and comes with chopped up baguette.  You can buy from a section of fruit and vegetable add ons if you like.  Our chocolate fondue sells for £9.95.

CROQUET FAQS (MAY - SEPTEMBER ONLY)

What type of croquet do you play?
Croquet at Skylight is meant to give you and your friends a chance for some competitive fun and a laugh. You will be given a briefing on-site about how to play “Skylight Rules” croquet – but you are of course welcome to do as you please for your booking. Instructions will be available on site.

How long do the games go for?
A round of croquet lasts 45 minutes. If you would like longer you may try and book back-to-back sessions on our booking page. All equipment is provided, but you will be asked to leave a credit card with the games master while you are using the equipment. Unreturned equipment will be charged at replacement value.

How many players per group is allowed?
For the best experience we recommend 4 players, but you can play with any number of players between 2 and 6.

What are the differences between the courts?
All courts are the same size. Court 1 is outdoors and Courts 2 and 3 are on our lower car park level.

When should I arrive?
Players must arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to your allocated game time and be ready to go 10 minutes before your start time. You will not be able to run over your allocated game time so if you start late, your game time will be reduced.

What if I can’t attend my allocated game time?
Unfortunately we are unable to change your allocated game time, however if you do arrive late we’ll do our very best to fit you in but we cannot guarantee this.

How do I book tickets?
Please visit our booking page, which will explain how to book tickets. You will need to bring your confirmation email on the day.

Can I book the games for an event?
Please contact tdvlsales@tobaccodocklondon.com for private hire and corporate events.

We highly recommend booking in advance as we are unable to guarantee availability on the day. However, if any courts are free, you may book on the day for the same fee.

Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately we cannot facilitate refunds on tickets unless an event is cancelled or Skylight is closed by management. All equipment is provided, but you will be asked to leave a credit card with the games master while you are using the equipment. Unreturned equipment will be charged at replacement value.


PéTANQUE FAqs (MAY - SEPTEMBER ONLY)

What are your Pétanque rules?
We play simple pétanque rules. Toss the jack, closest balls to the jack score points. You can play as many ends as you can during your session. Instructions will be available on site.

How long do the games go for?
Pétanque rounds last 30 minutes. If you would like longer you may try and book back to back sessions on our bookings page. All equipment is provided but you will be asked to leave a credit card with the games master while you are using the equipment. Unreturned equipment will be charged at replacement value.

How many players per group is allowed?
For the best experience we recommend 2 to 4 players (individuals or doubles).

When should I arrive?
Players must arrive a minimum of 10 minutes prior to your allocated game time. You will not be able to run over your allocated game time so if you start late, your game time will be reduced.

What if I can’t attend my allocated game time?
Unfortunately we are unable to change your allocated game time, however if you do arrive late we’ll do our very best to fit you in but we cannot guarantee this.
